Press coverage is invaluable, but if you want the press to write about
your Internet Marketing business, you have to give them something to write
about. Get the attention of the press, and you have a better chance that they
will write about you. Following are some ideas to get the attention of
journalists when you pitch them the idea of writing about your business.
Tell Them Something New
Tell the journalists what's new about your business. What makes your
business unique? There must be something different or unique about your
business. Why does anyone want to use or buy from you? When you write to a
journalist about your business, tell them what makes your business unique, and
tell them what makes you unique. If you have any unique quirks, and who
doesn't, let them in on it. Make it interesting. Give them something to write
about.
Try Pulling On Their Heartstrings
Try telling them something a little sappy. A good human-interest story
never hurt business. Tell them if you donate a percentage of profits to a
charity. Tell them if you are a family business. Even use family members if you
have to.
Make it Current
The publisher wants to know “Why now?” He wants to know why you are
doing what you are doing now and how it will effect your customers.
Be As Honest As You Can
Even if you have to shock them, tell them the truth. Give them
something open and honest to grab their attention.
